Craig Bergh is working post our race results on the leading International Speed Sailing site. So far we have several sailors posted.  Go to: www.gps-speedsurfing.com. Click on the "Rankings" Page, then click on the "Max Speed" link. It is exciting to see American sailors listed. It is also good to see Lake Okabena listed as a speed sailing location. Many thanks to Onno Pierek, the administrator of this site for allowing to include our results with the fastest sailors in the world!

The Midwest Speed Quest was well received by the racers. Speed sailing is a new and exciting form of Windsurfing competition. We are proud to have provided a event of this caliber.

Our event is unlike any other in the concept of the flexible race schedule. There were three scheduled race days. But every sailor also had the opportunity to select their own race day. We had a team "on-call" to meet the sailor at the time and location of their choosing. This was a enormous commitment of time and manpower. But this contributed to the success of the event.

We want to thank all the many visiting sailors who competed in our event. There was a spirit of deep comradery and fine sportsmanship among all our racers.  Windsurfers should be proud of this.

The event was the result of hard work of our Speed Quest Team. The Team donated their their time and effort to making this event a success. We would like to thank Jeff Hegwer, Jason Swanson, Craig Bergh, Pam Bergh, and Carissa Bergh for donating their time to meet visiting sailors and record the speeds. Thanks to Bill Keitel for his input and ideas to this event.

Thanks to The Speed Quest Team for providing great beach side picnics to the visiting sailors. Thank you to the Kremers for providing free lodging to the visiting sailors who needed it. A special thanks to Jeff Hegwer for the 2 outstanding Beach Side Barbeques. The sailors shared the responsibility of periodically turning the 6 pork roasts whenever anyone came in off the water.

Thank you to the local newspaper "The Daily Globe"  for their coverage of this event
through news stories and the many photos. We also want to thank The Globe for their continuous support of Worthington Windsurfing Regatta year after year.

Thank you Worthington Anesthesia Services and Worthington Okabena Windsurfers for their financial sponsorship of the Midwest Speed Quest.

Thank you to the City of Worthington and the Convention and Visitors Bureau for their continuous support of Speed Quest and the Windsurfing Regatta.

Thanks to Eddy Patricelli, editor of Windsurfing Magazine for including a report and early race results in the Fall 2005 Issue. And thank you for the fine article on the Worthington Windsurfing Regatta.

Windsurfing Magazine has supported and covered the Sport of Windsurfing in the Midwest. Now is a good time to remind Windsurfers to support Windsurfing Magazine by renewing your subscription. See the link for Windsurfing Magazine on this "Windsurfing Links" page of this website. And let them know you appreciate their great reporting of Midwestern Windsurfing Events.

We would like to recognize the 3 young windsurfers who competed in the Speed Quest: Jason Swanson age 18, Lisa Kremer age 17, and Carissa Bergh age 13. It is important we all encourage  and support young Windsurfers. They are the future of the sport.

Lisa Kremer is a member of the Formula Experience Juniors Team. She has a dream of representing the United States in the 2008 Olympic Games. Our best wishes to Lisa.

We are already planning the 2006 Midwest Speed Quest.. A great deal of time
and effort went into 2005 Speed Quest to make it a success.

We look forward to 2006.

The Midwest Speed Quest has a goal of offering a $1000 FIrst Prize in 2006!!!

A final note; We have tried hard to create the best Speed Sailing Event in the United States. If there are sailors who would like to write about their experiences in our event they are encouraged to email them to cbergh@iw.net.

Sincerely,
