The National Colony was credited with bringing the first settlers to the Worthington area. They ran this advertisement in a number of eastern newspapers in the 1870's to convince people to come to Worthington and join them in forming a new community. This advertisement was also printed in the Thursday, July 20, 1876 edition of the "Worthington Advance", which was the name of one of the early Worthington newspapers. This reprint was published in the Daily Globe on Wednesday, October 26, 1955. The advertisement was all in one piece but is presented here as two pieces, a top and a bottom because of its size and scanning difficulties.
If you click on the map portion of this top section, or here the map will be displayed in normal North-South orientation, which will make more sense to you.
