Worthington City Band Concerts - Memorial Day Concert
Each Summer, on the shores of Lake Okabena in
Chautauqua Park, there are a series of FREE band concerts.
The concerts are done by The Amazing
Worthington City band, made up of over 50 people who love music.
These have been part of each summers life in
Worthington for over 60 years.
Comfortable seating is available. Restrooms
are open.

Worthington Windsurfing Regatta & Unvarnished Music Festival
The
weekend of June 13 - 15th 2008 is the weekend for Windsurf enthusiasts to gather
on Lake Okabena to enjoy the sport of Windsurfing and some good music. Lake
Okabena is the best Windsurfing lake in the midwest due to the typical summer
jet stream positions and the low banks around the lake.
The
Unvarnished Music Festival adds variety to the weekend for families with
children. A variety of styles of music will be performed by a wide range of
performers with a variety of instruments where the audience can wander from
performer to performer, or sit around them, watch and listen.

Arts
& Activities On the Shore will take place during the Regatta on Sailboard
Beach on Saturday and Sunday.

Old Fashioned Fourth of July
Takes Place in Pioneer Village, where a variety of heritage
demonstrations are present throughout the day.
Some of the activities include "meller-dramas", hymn sing-a-longs, and tours of
the village. Bring the family out and enjoy a fun, educational day before the
soon expected fireworks that evening.

International Festival
A
variety of Foods, Dances, Music, Sport, and activities for children are
available for enjoyment from among the many cultures that are present in the
Worthington area.
Spend the day eating ethnic food, listening to rhythmic, ethnic music, or
watching sports from Mexico, Africa, Asia and Europe. There is also a soccer
tournament that takes place over the weekend. The 2008 event is July 11 & 12th.

Nobles County Fair:
The
county fair is held once a year, usually in early August.
Providing displays, demonstrations, livestock judging, car races, and antique
tractor displays.

King Turkey Day:
King Turkey Day is held once a year in September. A week of
special events is climaxed with a 10k race, free pancake breakfast, bike rides,
family activities, political speakers and a large parade.
The 2008 KTD will be September 13th.

10 K Race:

This race is held once a year on the last day of the King Turkey Day
celebrations. More Info

Halloween at Pioneer Village
Pioneer Village set up this old building to look just like a
ghost town for Halloween night. There are scary things happening all around you
during the night. You never know what might pop-up from the haystack or what
might grab your leg from the floorboard. Enjoy a night of screams and scares at
"Halloween at Pioneer Village".

D E C E M B E R
Christmas at Pioneer Village
Start celebrating the Christmas season out at Pioneer Village
on December 4 & 5 in 2008. Enjoy the season by taking a ride to dinner on a
wagon ride. Eat a meal in the Red Garter Saloon before taking in one of the many
shows that are happening during the night, while sipping on some hot cider.
Whether it is a sing-a-long at the church or watching a dance show, there is a
variety of shows to partake in. And just when you think your night is done,
Santa will drop by

Speedway:
These are summer
events at the speedway located on the Nobles County Fairgrounds. A

Pioneer Village:
Pioneer
Village provides historical views of the area and a number of events
through the year. As a web site becomes available for Pioneer
Village, it will be linked from here.
More than forty (40) historic buildings from early Worthington are on
display, filled with memorabilia that help you see what life was like in early
Worthington and Nobles County.
