The people of Worthington started the local college as Worthington Junior
College in a bond issue to fund its development in 1930. It served the community
well and grew through the years until 1964 when, in a state-wide effort to
co-ordinate two-year colleges, it was sold to the Minnesota Community College
System which later in 1995, in another state-sponsored merger, it merged with
Southwestern Technical College to form Minnesota West Community and Technical
College.
It is a fully accredited institution with a curriculum designed to meet the
needs of SW MN.
The student body is made up of about 50% part-time students. Over 50% are
over the age of 25. To meet this changing need, more evening classes are
offered.
Interactive Television is utilized as a means of bring to Worthington a more
diverse offering of instructional materials.
The faculty and staff are dedicated to offering quality educational
opportunities to all citizens of the Worthington area community and will help
you in your goals for individual growth through education.
