A project to document the Dredging of Lake Okabena is underway. It is wise to do this now, hile some of the generations are still alive that were aound during this project. The lake was dredged from 1939 to 1984. We are trying todetermine what area of the lake was being dredged each year and where the mud/silt/sludge was being placed.define the areas where mud/silt from the bottom of Lake Okabena was placed. It has been easier to determine where the fill sites were. They left some marks on the land in some cases. But, even so, your help is requested in adjusting the perimeters of the fill areas - to get them as exact as we can before all the people who have memories of this are gone to heaven

Here are three Google Maps, made by Bob Rohrer, showing what is presently know about the dredge fill sites. There are too many to place on one map

There is discussion of this going on in two Facebook Groups Dredging ake Okabena and Growing Up in Worthington, Minnesota, What do You Remember

There is a Facebook Group created for discussion of this project Click Here
