Wind Surfing

Windsurfing on Lake Okabena in WorthingtonLake Okabena is about the best Windsurfing location within 500 miles, because of its altitude, high on the Buffalo ridge and it is in the right position for the normal summer jet stream to produce west-to-east winds that are often in excess of 15 miles-per-hour. Centennial Park and Sailboard Beach ( formerly Lakefront Park) are the better base locations for windsurfing because of their easier approach to the water. Each year in June, a special Windsurfing event with national acclaim is held here on Lake Okabena. Photos and further information is available on their web site [ Click here]
