Beach Fun
Centennial Park has an area appropriate for beach fun.

Beach Nook
Centennial Beach has a summer concession stand, the Beach Nook, where drinks, snacks and restrooms are available.

Centennial Park extends from the north shore of Lake Okabena north nearly six blocks to County Highway 35 and lies along a tributary to the lake.

It was, originally a low-lying pasture area that was prone to flooding and where residents kept their dairy cows to graze. The ground level of the area was raised when it was filled in with dredge fill from the lake bottom during the 1940's and 50's and, later improved as a park. It was named in 1958 to commemorate the state's centennial.

It includes a wide swimming beach where boats can be pulled up to shore, a shelter house, a concession stand, a restroom, a volleyball court, a large playground, hiking area and pleanty of area to play frizbee and catch, etc.

A boat loading area with a dock exists on the west side of the tributary.

The west area includes the Municipal Swimming Pool  that includes a new water slide.

The park includes several softball diamonds and a lighted tennis court.
It also include a special area developed for Skateboarding enthusiasts.

Parks provide places for children and families to unwind and have fun in a city. Parks, also, counteract the effect that the city concrete and asphalt streets and buildings have on peoples peace of mind and serenity. Parks have a "decongestant" value to the mental health of a community. Worthington is blessed with having many parks. Especially valuable are the many parks by Lake Okabena where there are  many places to go to "let the stress out" and re-create our serenity and composure in a hussle-bustle world.
